Job Description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

It is the responsibility of the CC Instructors to provide the learning activities and support that will lead to the achievement of the course objectives and contribute to the educational environment of the department, college, and the community. The Instructor member's role encompasses the general areas of learning facilitation and, when not instructing, may include taking part in other related functions, such as curriculum development, development and growth of the department, professional development, and institutional service. Primary responsibilities are to plan, develop and teach courses within the curriculum in a manner that facilitates student learning for employees of client companies. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  1. Teaches resulting in two or more of the following programs: Mechanical - or Electrical- or Fluid Power (Hydraulics and Pneumatics) programs using related materials to support training objectives, such as electrical testing and maintenance, electrical trouble shooting and Programmable Logic Controllers
  2. Works with Instructional Designer to develop client specialized Mechanical - or Electrical- or Fluid Power (Hydraulics and Pneumatics) courses to meet individual Corporate College client needs
  3. Delivers training curriculum programs for external clients
  4. Reviews, evaluates, and revises program curricula and practices to assure compliance with professional standards, state-mandated guidelines, and requirements of business, industry, and higher education. Maintains current knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical or Fluid Power standards
  5. Develops and uses a syllabus for each course or laboratory within college and departmental guidelines
  6. When not instructing, position may be responsible for curriculum development, development of the department, professional development, and institutional service as determined by department leadership. Serves as Mechanical, Electrical or Fluid Power consultant to sales team. May serve on grant committees, and works with college leadership on projects
  7. Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Mastery of course content
  • Ability to work with Corporate College staff and client personnel to meet varying training schedules and course feedback
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate, understand and meet needs of clients
  • Must demonstrate instructional skills
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends
  • Microsoft Office software

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:

  • Regularly drive to offsite, client locations as assigned within training contract and directed by executive director
  • The work is performed in a climate controlled office environment with minimal exposure to safety hazards. Travel to the LSC locations and to external client meeting locations will be required. Hours will vary depending on class time. Instructors are required to meet with classes at all scheduled times

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    High school diploma or higher and at least 3 years of verified, paid work experience in industry as an electrical/electronics, and/or mechanical maintenance, and/or fluid systems specialistWork experience and significant hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas:Mechanical systems (e.g., manufacturing, assembly, maintenance)Industrial electrical/electronic systems (e.g., automation, programmable logic controllers, motor controls)Technical mathBlueprint and/or schematic readingPrecision measurementOccupational and equipment safety
Valid Texas Driver's License

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate's degree or higher in a related field
  • Experience in adapting training techniques to students of both technical and nontechnical backgrounds
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Veteran
Salary

Commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.
