WORLD: The David and Leighan Rinker Center is seeking a part-time (20 hours per week), temporary employee to support the center. This person will assist the WORLD Center in providing support for international student and scholar services (ISSS) and campus internationalization at Stetson University. This position requires skills in written and verbal communication, listening, compassion, organization, efficiency, and navigation of technology systems.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in promoting a welcoming space and climate that prioritizes an inclusion and student success mindset. Utilizes advanced listening skills and competency around diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Stay in regular touch with international students and scholars to remind them about important immigration rules/procedures
  • Manage WORLD's general ISSS email account, responding directly or forwarding to the appropriate person/office
  • Support maintaining and developing international student immigration records
  • Assist with SEVIS recertification process
  • Meet and communicate with international students when needed - for immigration, academic, or cultural support
  • Serve as a Designated School Official with the US Department of Homeland Security (must be a US citizen or permanent resident); attend trainings to learn and stay up-to-date with latest immigration policies and regulations
  • Develop programs to support international student success
  • Organize and help to implement new international student orientation
  • Co-manage the WORLD Student Ambassador group
  • Support Fulbright Scholar(s) and other visiting international scholars with adjustment to Stetson and the United States; help to arrange their housing, meal plans, and orientation
  • Assist with updating the internationalization dashboard and other projects and assignments as needed for Director of International Learning
  • Performs other site and position specific functions as assigned

Miniimum Education: Bachelor's degree; Master's preferred

  • Desire to work within a fast-paced team to advocate for international students, study abroad, and campus internationalization
  • Passion for student success and development
  • Advanced technology skills (Word, Excel); willingness to learn new technologies, policies, and procedures, particularly as they relate to international students and immigration support
  • Advanced listening and intercultural communication skills
Required Experience
  • Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident in order to receive approval from the US Department of State to become a Designated School Official
  • Bachelor's degree; masters preferred

Salary Grade: 6

Completed COVID-19 Vaccine status required
