Starting Rate: Band 5 - $52,500 - $66,900

Position Summary:

Educational Talent Search (ETS) is a federal Department of Education TRiO program that is funded to serve 880 TUSD and SUSD high school students interested in pursuing post-secondary degrees, and who would be the first in their family to attend college, &/or be from a low income household.

The Coordinator for the PCC Desert Vista Campus TRiO ETS grant is responsible for several critical aspects of grant implementation and success, including advising a large student caseload, handling a high volume of student data, and assisting with internal and federal reporting. The Coordinator will be assigned to both a high school and PCC DV Campus, and serve around 310 students/year.

The work schedule for this position is flexible and may include working evenings and weekends and local travel.

This is a grant funded position. Continued employment in the position is contingent upon continued funding through designated external sources.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Promote the ETS program to high school students and their parents, as well as the campus community Identify and recruit eligible participants
  • Provide academic and career advising, mentoring and coaching to ETS students
  • Handle a large student caseload and database, maintain student records and required documentation
  • Plan, schedule and facilitate workshops, local and out of state field trips, university visits, career, cultural and STEM enrichment activities, and community service opportunities, etc.
  • Make grant-related purchases with a PCC PCard, and submit travel requests and expense reports
  • Assist with internal and external grant reporting, including monitoring and audits
  • Participate in the development, implementation, and success of program goals, objectives and activities Develop and present program marketing materials and info sessions, respond to requests for program information
  • Collaborate and develop collegial relationships with other professionals/personnel to ensure the highest quality of student success
  • Supervise tutors/temp staff to include: prioritize and assign work; conduct performance evaluations; ensure tutors are trained and make hiring, termination and disciplinary recommendations
  • Other related duties as assigned

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field and
  • One year of program experience related to the program assignment; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above
or
  • Candidates who possess a similar combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above are encouraged to apply and should describe in detail the work experience and education regarded as establishing the equivalency
Preferred:
  • Bilingual Spanish
  • Background similar to that of project participants
  • Master's Degree in a related field
The ideal candidate will have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
  • Knowledge of student development, college access, strategies for increasing college admission and success for under-served populations including first generation, low income students, and students with disabilities
  • College policies and procedures
  • TRiO federal legislation and regulations, pertinent federal, state and local laws
  • Data management Preparation of reports and correspondence
  • Knowledge of Banner, MyPima, PowerSchool, and other systems
  • Public speaking, providing instruction to a diverse population
  • Clear, concise verbal and written communication
  • Outstanding customer service
  • Use of applicable computer programs and equipment
