Job Description

The Communications Associate provides support to NJ PBS's Director of Communications to execute Audience Engagement and Communications outreach and strategic multiplatform press outreach for network projects. Please note this is a fixed term/temporary role with an expected term of 6 months.

Specific responsibilities include:
• Creating promotional assets and drafting editorial verbiage for a variety of uses, including but not limited to press announcements, social media copy, banner ads, blog posts, website copy, program listings and e-newsletters;
• Creating, maintaining and updating media database with contacts for press outlets, partner organizations, influencers, etc.;
• Coordinating with series producers to gather episode and series assets;
• Conducting social listening, and influencer and competitor research using a range of tools and platforms to aid in the creation of engagement plans;
• Posting and updating materials for the NJ PBS pressroom;
• Updating the network's online community calendar;
• Assisting in the monitoring and tracking of media coverage and social media mentions and creating coverage reports;
• Providing on-call assistance during virtual and/or in-person events possible.

Qualified candidates should have a minimum of one year of experience in corporate communications and public relations, excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work under deadlines and independently a must.

The ability to multi-task and prioritize, maintain flexibility when priorities change and proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook is necessary.

Familiarity with Wordpress and Constant Contact a plus.

Salary ranges are based on benchmarked nonprofit and industry related data provided by an outside consulting firm and are commensurate with skills and experience. The hiring salary range for this position is $45,000 - $52,000.00. Internal equity considerations will be reviewed before making a final offer.
