In 1962, Dallas businessman and philanthropist Algur H. Meadows donated his private collection of Spanish paintings, as well as funds to start a museum, to Southern Methodist University. The museum opened to the public in 1965, marking the first step in fulfilling Meadows’s vision to create “a small Prado for Texas.” Today, the Meadows is home to one of the largest and most comprehensive collections of Spanish art outside of Spain. The collection spans from the 10th to the 21st centuries and includes medieval objects, Renaissance and Baroque sculptures, and major paintings by Golden Age and modern masters. About the Position:The Communications and Publications Coordinator is a highly organized and analytical individual—and a master of Asana—who will collaborate with multiple museum staff members to support and optimize the production of museum branded materials. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Marketing & PR, this position will provide coordination support of all exhibition and permanent collection catalogues and museum publications and ensure that the marketing communications team delivers excellent customer service in its support of departments across the museum. This position will assist in developing effective internal and external communication processes to support the department and museum.Essential Functions:

    Coordinate the writing, manuscript editing, design and production of museum catalogues, brochures, labels, didactics, signage, educational and miscellaneous printed electronic materials.Develop and establish processes and procedures to streamline communication requests and practices.Collaborate with the external Graphic Designers to create, revise, edit, and generate departmental materials, signage, campus messages, etc.Track and report on publication and marketing projects by maintaining an active calendar for tasks and deliverables.Assist with managing and archiving photography needs for social media, website content, infographics, presentations, and digital lobby signage.Manage the review/copy-editing process for marketing, PR and publications.Manage workflows through Asana.Create and maintain clear metrics to track activities and identify successful marketing campaigns.Provide weekly reporting to the Assistant Director of Marketing & PR on timelines and status of projects.Attend weekly curatorial meetings to be current on projects and coordinate with the curatorial team.Monitor marketing spend.Special projects and other duties as assigned.


Qualifications
Education and Experience: A High School’s degree is required for this role, with a preference for a Bachelor’s in English, Journalism, Communications or Art HistoryA minimum of one-two (1-2) years of work experience in communications, advertising, publishing, or marketing is required. Previous experience supporting marketing or publishing initiatives in the arts is preferred.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate broadly across the University and develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of constituencies. Must also demonstrate strong written communication skills, including the proper use of spelling, grammar, and punctuation, as well as familiarity with both AP and Chicago style guides.Candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and analyze problems, as well as devise solutions. Must also have strong organizational, planning and project management skills. Must be focused on deadlines and attentive to details. Candidate must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively with others.Experience in Microsoft Office Suite and Asana required.Physical and Environmental Demands:
