The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Veterinary Teaching Hospital invites applications for a full-time, 12-month, Instructor in the Integrated Food Animal Management Systems (IFAMS) group. The IFAMS section consists of 5 core faculty, two house officers, 3 graduate students and three technical staff. We deliver core and elective courses across all four years of the professional curriculum, have a large and diverse research program, service local, national and international food producers and deliver educational programs for producers and veterinarians locally, nationally and internationally.

Requirements: Preference will be given to candidates who have an interest and desire for large animal theriogenology, including advanced reproductive techniques for small ruminants, cattle, and horses. The successful candidate must have a willingness to instruct students with varied experience. Candidates must have a DVM degree or equivalent and have advanced training in reproductive techniques.

Duties: This position is a 100% appointment in the Department of Veterinary Clinical Medicine. The appointment will be full time and will be a non-tenured, academic position with a starting date on or about January 1, 2022.

The primary responsibilities associated with this position will be to assist with teaching the professional curriculum. The successful applicant will be responsible for delivering, in conjunction with the IFAMS and Clinical Skills Learning Center teams, introductory clinical laboratories in the first and second year of the professional curriculum. In addition, collaborative delivery of instruction in the third-year core didactic and fourth year core clinical rotations will be expected. The IFAMS team has a teaching herd of small ruminants, the successful applicant will be expected to assist in management of this flock. Clinical service duties will be assigned during time periods when there are not teaching responsibilities. Emergency duties will be shared with fellow clinicians in an equitable manner.

Faculty members are expected to perform the full range of designated faculty responsibilities-teaching, research/scholarly activities, diagnostic/clinical service, outreach/public engagement and university service. Teaching assignments in the professional curriculum may involve introductory, intermediate, or advanced core and elective courses as the demands of the curriculum may require and are made by the Department Head in consultation with the faculty. Normal teaching responsibilities can include didactic, laboratory, and clinical

teaching of discipline to professional students, interns, residents, and graduate students. Your contact hours of lecture and laboratory teaching can vary depending on the needs of the curriculum. Didactic assignments can occur during either on-clinic time or off-clinic time depending on the scheduling sequence of the four-year professional curriculum.
