College & Career Support Counselor
The Collaborate, Advocacy, Resiliency, Empowerment (CARE) grant initiative is currently looking for College & Career Support Counselor. This role will be assigned to grant schools in Baltimore City Public School District (BCPS) and will extend services in partnership BCPS through wrap around services, while continuing to promote the district's vision to provide a rigorous educational program that prepares students for optimal college and career opportunities. If you aspire to work with students and families to increase their college and career attainment, through essential life skills mentoring sessions, parent communication, and academic/career preparation, consider applying. Interested individuals should maintain school counseling certification or be enrolled in a school counseling program at the practicum or internship level.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Build positive relationships with students/families and other school staff to increase access to post-secondary educational attainment and broad career options.
  • Facilitate essential life skills mentoring sessions. Communicate with parents and promote parent engagement.
  • Encourage each student to consider a broad range of appropriate college choices and/or career pathways.
  • Provide information regarding college and career preparation, including high school course selection, test taking skills and basic financial planning to help prepare for future education and career opportunities.
  • Communicate student needs to the Site Project Coordinator.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching students the value of collaborative relationships through mentoring, developing self-advocacy skills, being resilient, and feeling empowered to succeed in life.


Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):
  • Bachelor's Degree in Counseling or related field School counseling certification or eligible for certification in a school counseling program at the practicum or internship level.

Starting Salary: $20.00/hr (commensurate with experience)

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
