American Welding and Gas, Inc.has an immediate need for aCollections Specialistin our Raleigh, NC headquarters.

The Collection Specialist is responsible for making decisions regarding collections of outstanding accounts receivable dollars from the existing client base, executing on collection strategies, and handling all other aspects of collections, resolving customer billing issues, and reducing accounts receivable delinquency.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Analyze open accounts for collection efforts and make determinations regarding collections strategy
• Make outbound collections calls in a professional manner while keeping and improving customer relations
• Use judgement to rescue accounts receivable delinquency, applying good customer service in a timely manner
• Collect customer payments in accordance with payment due dates
• Identify issues attributing to account delinquency and make recommendations to management regarding how to resolve such issues
• Review and monitor assigned accounts and all application collection reports
• Provide timely follow-up on payment arrangements
• Correspond with customers via mail and fax to encourage payment of delinquent accounts
• Exercise authority to suspend and unsuspend customer accounts as needed
• Make determinations regarding the increase or decrease of customer credit limits and assign higher or lower credit limits to accounts
• Determine when customer accounts need to be placed with an outside collection agency
• Initiate refunds to customer accounts
• Decide when and if finance charges should be removed from a customer account
• Exercise authority to initiate loss of use billing on an account when needed
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Education Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED
• Associate or Bachelor's Degree Preferred
• 1-3 years related work experience with credit, collections, accounts receivable experience as well as experience interacting with customers
• Works well under pressure
• Proficient use of Windows based computer software and the use of spreadsheets with a high level of efficiency with Excel
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as interest and percentages
• Excellent customer service skills
• Excellent attention to detail, demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness
• Ability to work with a diverse group of people in a team environment
• Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
• Ability to multi-task and problem solve
• Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment due to delays or unexpected requests

Additional Notes:

• Hours of operation: 8am-5pm or 9am-6pm

Salary Range: $44,000 - $46,000
