Job Summary:

This position is responsible for the overall operation of the Softball program and will assist with student athlete recruitment and retention as well as general student recruitment and retention. Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Softball Coach works to meet athletic programming and department needs. One of the primary objectives is to prepare the student-athletes for success in competition at the NJCAA and TCCAA Division I level and to ensure their satisfactory academic progress through graduation or transfer to a 4-year university.

Job Duties:

Abide by all NJCAA and TCCAA rules and regulations in the daily and overall operation of the program. Assist in promoting the College by soliciting and encouraging contributions to and support for the Athletics Department. Participate, as requested, in events, activities, and/or efforts designed to foster increased external participation in, and support for Athletics and the College. Cultivate and maintain effective relations with associations, conferences, alumni, media, civic groups, students, faculty, parents, and friends of the College as directed by the Athletic Director and College Administration. Recruit and retain student-athletes who can compete successfully on a level consistent with program expectations and who can be successful in an academic environment. Create and reinforce an environment of academic expectations, achievement, and success that supports and encourages academic progress and graduation through not only providing appropriate referral information to College resources but also through monitoring the academic progress of the individual athletes through progress and/or Early Alert reports submitted by faculty. Scout opponents in preparation for games occurring during the season as well as post-season play. Recruit prospective student-athletes for the program who have the abilities necessary to be competitive and to progress academically, and also recruit for the College, in general. Develop and manage a comprehensive budget for the program which includes but is not limited to equipment purchase and replacement, travel, and expenses related to opportunities that may arise which provides exposure for the student-athletes. Oversee planned and organized daily practice sessions as well as physical conditioning. Execute an annual fundraising event in conjunction with the Athletics Department and the College Foundation. Remain current on academic advising techniques through continued professional development. Work with the Director of Advising and the professional advisor assigned to the team to ensure that all team members are advised appropriately according to their selected college major and in keeping with eligibility requirements for NJCAA and TCCAA. Supervise any assistant and/or volunteer coaches and ensure that all job requirements are met, and that team philosophy of athletic and academic preparedness is upheld. Work closely with other Student Services and Academic Affairs departments to ensure a smooth transition for student-athletes into and through college, to include transfer to another college or university. Assist in the implementation and delivery of summer camps and tournaments throughout the year. Ensure that team media information is accurate, current, and complete (i.e., team rosters, webpages, brochures, and other recruiting materials, etc.). Coordinate scheduling of games in conjunction with the Director of Athletics and other appropriate athletic teams. Maintain facilities throughout the year and ensure that any external agency requesting use of the facilities follows the appropriate College procedures. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree.
Three (3) years Head coaching experience or one (1) year collegiate coaching experience.
Valid Driver's License.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Pay Rate: $46,295 - $57,876 annual salary depending on experience
