JOB SUMMARY: The Specialist/CNC Operator is a multi-departmental role which operates high speed machines and tools for fabricating or manufacturing or assembling parts. The Specialist/CNC Operator position is considered a skilled job and someone in this position is expected to operate at a high technical and interpersonal level with the ability to collaborate and troubleshoot to solve problems. They are also expected to be well-rounded and cross trained in their functional areas. Individuals in this role will produce machined parts by programming, setting up and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Plans machining by studying work orders, prints, engineering plans and specifications; interprets geographic dimensions and tolerances (GD&T)

• Use other equipment, including but not limited to: presses, cutters, lathes, slitters, mills, welders and polishers to manufacture close tolerance products

• Perform basic machine set ups (tooling, dies, fixtures) and manufacture to routers and specifications

• Perform in process inspection using basic M&TE(measuring and test equipment)

• Assist in the identification, development and implementation of new manufacturing processes

• Develops and manages all assigned projects to completion

• Performs basic to complex manufacturing

• Understand lean manufacturing and assist in continuous improvement

• Train other employees in basic processes and safe operation of equipment / machinery

• Conform to the company's culture of safety, excellence, quality, service and continuous improvement, while taking personal responsibility for your own actions and treating fellow employees, customers and vendors respectfully and ethically

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Actively participates in Safety Committee and continuous improvement initiatives

• As directed by Team Leader and/or Product Line Leader

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Degree or equivalent (GED) required

• Certification in CNC Machining or Programming highly preferred

• At least 3 years' experience in a manufacturing environment

• Must be adaptable to a changing work environment, competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events

• Able to perform abstract thinking in trouble shooting and manufacturing process improvements

• Able to collaborate, communicate and build and maintain relationships effectively

• Must possess excellent conceptual skills, ethical judgment and attention to detail
