Position Summary

The CMM Programmer is responsible for developing and writing CMM Programs, this includes first article programs as well as production inspection programs, support and technical guidance within the assigned operation. This job encompasses the identification of improvement opportunities by providing clear feedback to supervisor, production, engineering and CNC programmers the inspection results.
Essential Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Under general direction, performs the management of projects related to industrial pump manufacturing, component engineering and manufacturing for new and existing parts and assemblies.
  • Establishes manufacturing methods and process sequence necessary to complete parts.
  • Creates models, operation sheets and CNC programs using MasterCAM, Unigraphics NX, Pro-E and/or Solidworks software.
  • Handles Fixture and Tool design concepts and maintains close feedback with other shop floor personnel, management and related customers and vendors.
  • Troubleshoots manufacturing problems and implements method and tool improvements.
  • Writes rework and repair methods for non-conformances.
  • Participates in discussions with customers and suppliers as required. Performs additional duties as requested.
Position Requirements

Qualifications:
  • N/C Lathe and Mill Programing is necessary.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, symbols and geometric tolerances based on military and commercial specifications.
  • Able to process complex assemblies and conceptualize developmental and production tooling in a job shop environment.
  • Proficiency with CAM software: MasterCAM, or similar software i.e. Unigraphics NX is required; Solidworks, Pro-E experience is also helpful however is not required
  • Proficient in MS Project, MS word and MS Excel.
  • Able to create Solid models, operations sheets, Fixture designs.
  • Familiarity with specifications and requirements for mechanical component manufacturing that includes having knowledge of machining specifications.
  • Strong math background including trigonometry and geometry.
  • Able to research, understand and implement new technologies for possible cost savings and process improvements.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work well with others in a team-based environment.
  • Able to perform hands-on shop work.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:
  • Write and edit CMM Programs using PC-DMIS
  • Min of 5 years in related role with solid experience
  • Utilization of higher level Alignment Techniques
  • Using Scanning Methods
  • Advanced troubleshooting abilities
  • Blueprints, specifications and routers and interpret GD&T
  • Ability to program offline with PC-DMIS using CAD models
  • Calibrate the coordinate measuring machines (CMM)
  • Working knowledge of ANSI, ASME and ISO.
  • Metrology knowledge is a plus
Education & Experience Required:
  • 3-5 years' CNC programming experience in an industrial manufacturing environment with Mills and / or Lathes
  • Prior experience to range from engineering to expediting on shop floor utilizing detailed team input for instruction/directions.
  • HSD/GED is required; 2 or 4 year degree is preferred however is not required
  • N/C Lathe and/or milling programming
  • MasterCAM or similar cam software experience is required
  • Pro-E or SolidWorks experience is preferred
