Clinical Teaching Assistant (Grant Funded)

General Statement of Job:
The Clinical Teaching Assistant provides academic and clinical learning support for students as directed, including tutoring students, conducting supplemental instruction, and performing other learning support duties.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provides educational assistance to students in specific discipline to improve understanding and comprehension of the subject.
  2. Functions as a clinical supervisor that is responsible for the supervision of students in skills, simulations, and clinical performance under the supervision of a master’s or higher prepared nursing faculty.
  3. Provides student evaluation in skills, simulations, and clinical performance under the supervision of a master’s or higher prepared nursing faculty.
  4. Consults with a nursing faculty in clinical settings.
  5. Leads efforts to prepare student-directed workshops and materials to enhance student comprehension and supplement course assignments.
  6. Attends classes and/or holds study sessions for student participation as required.
  7. Integrates study strategy techniques with the course content.
  8. Provides individual and group instruction to students on a variety of subjects using a distance learning format.
  9. Attends lectures and functions as a model student in the programmatic framework.
  10. Develops and maintains working relationships with the course content instructor, student participants, and appropriate supervisor.
  11. Keeps regular and accurate records using required software, related forms and submits appropriate paperwork in a timely manner.
  12. Engages in the promotion and presentation of information about academic support services and resources at the Nursing and Allied Health Division.
  13. Assists faculty and staff in the interest of student success as directed by supervisor.
  14. Participates in required departmental training, workshops and meetings, conducting routine trainings as needed.
  15. Access to a remote working site that is safe and free from interruptions, and to equipment and reliable internet connection sufficient to perform job duties remotely as required.
  16. Supervises part-time staff, as needed.
  17. Travels throughout the college district, as needed.
  18. Performs other duties as assigned.


Required Education and Experience:
  1. A minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
  2. A current Texas Registered Nurse License.
  3. A minimum of one year of clinical experience in the acute care setting, medical surgical nursing.
  4. A minimum of one-year teaching experience with healthcare students is preferred.
