Reporting to Manager, Laboratory Information Systems and Technology (ISIT), the Clinical Systems Lead ISIT will be responsible for the oversight of the analytic and hardware team supporting MGB Pathology systems for specific MGB sites. They will manage the work of staff and offer them technical support. Will also work closely with business owners, clinical leaders, stakeholders, vendors and front line clinicians to gain a deep understanding of clinician workflow and incorporate that understanding into the evolution and support of these systems. They will also work in close collaboration with other site MGBD teams. Will coordinate resources for enhancement and demand management, ensuring efficient use of resources and a high level of user support.

Roles & responsibilities

  • Responsible for the oversight of daily support activities, including triaging tickets and projects to team members.
  • Attain a solid understanding of clinician workflow internal to lab processes, as well as those of ordering clinicians and other allied health professionals relying on lab data. Work with lab leadership and other stakeholders to optimize these processes to improve integration and coordination between lab and front end clinical requirements.
  • Oversee the implementation, use and maintenance of interfaces between lab instrumentation, facility specific software, middleware and Enterprise software. Ensure that Pathology IS/IT staff is trained to effectively analyze issues and effectively identify the appropriate resources to maintain and/or restore effective operations.
  • Coordinate with MGBD site teams on site initiatives and weekly briefings
  • Responsible for project organization, including defining project requirements, developing project plans, organizing project staff, and establishing realistic timelines.
  • Provide 24-hour on-call support on a rotating basis with other analysts and specialists to address urgent issues that cannot be handled by the MGB Help Desk.
  • Contribute to employee performance assessments.

  • The Clinical Systems Lead will guide, advise, and coach team members, connecting daily tasks to larger goals, and provide context and support
  • Create a vision around the work to provide team members with a sense of purpose and motivation
  • Understand the workings and needs of the client you are partnered with; ensure the teams interactions with the client demonstrates a good understanding of their definitions, their core characteristics, and their values
  • Ensure the team members remains focused, motivated and on track, including addressing any conflicts or bottlenecks. Coach team members on curating solutions that will fulfill design requirements, technical feasibility, and adhere to enterprise program build standards
  • Responsible for the quality team deliverables. The Team Lead will oversee every stage of the implementation and ensure consistent quality and standards are adhered to.
  • As a champion of high creative/technical standards, the Clinical Systems Lead will coach the project team to encourage the same in them
  • As needed, get team members from different disciplines to come together as a team and work through issues or develop solutions
  • Serves as escalation point for all project activities including risk management, solution management, implementation activities, stakeholder communication. Etc. Knows when to delegate escalation upwards
  • Effectively communicates team status with Manager and Director
  • Accountable for the success of the Team's execution of day-to-day responsibilities

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, IT, or related; Master's degree, and/or PMP certification highly desired.
  • Must have 5+ years of experience in healthcare systems project/program management.
  • Previous experience in laboratory operations of support of laboratory systems preferred. Experience in documenting and analyzing workflow is strongly desired.
  • Experience in healthcare packaged software implementations and associated methodologies
  • Experience in the design, development and implementation of Electronic Medical Records is a plus.
  • Experience working with clinician and revenue cycle stakeholders in an ambulatory and/or hospital setting a plus.
  • Must have experience working with large teams, driving conversations and decisions across multiple workstreams
  • Epic certification is a plus.
  • Customer services/support experience is a plus.
  • A combination of education and experience may be substituted for requirements
