CLINICAL MRI PHYSICIST

The Department of Neuroradiology at the Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute is seeking an MRI physicist to oversee and manage its expanding MRI operations. The position offers an exciting career opportunity for a motivated candidate to work alongside clinicians, scientists and researchers focused on developing the next level of neurological care.
The West Virginia University Neuroradiology Department is an innovative initiative and one of the first in the country. It continues the integration of neurological care, research, and education under the Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute. The department offers the full gamut of advanced neuroimaging services that underpin all facets of clinical and academic neurosciences – from early diagnosis to neuroimaging guided brain therapies for a wide range of functional and cognitive disorders. The department manages a large magnetic resonance imaging operation and provides consultation services to an integrated health system.
This is a faculty, non-tenure position for junior, mid-career or senior individuals with an academic rank (Assistant, Associate or Full Professor) commiserate with experience. The responsibilities include effective management of all MRI scanners in compliance with regulatory standards for quality and safety. The clinical work incorporates hardware/software optimization, development of standardized protocols and MRI safety. The academic environment offers participation in many innovative research projects pertaining to image analytics, informatics, focused ultrasound applications and functional neuroimaging. The education component focuses on developing MRI physics related teaching modules.
Qualifications
The position requires a PhD in medical physics, physics, engineering, or an area of science relevant to MRI physics and preferably 5 years of experience relating to MRI physics. Preferred certifications include American Board of Medical Physics (ABMP) certification in MR Imaging Physics and/or American Board of Radiology (ABR) certificationin Radiologic Physics. The successful candidate will report to the Medical Director of MRI and the Chair of Neuroradiology.
