The Clinical Dietitian:

  • Plans, coordinates and implements medical nutrition therapy services for assigned populations with nutrition screening and the Nutrition Care Process.
  • Performs the Nutrition-Focused Physical Exam when applicable. Responds to providers, colleagues and patient requests for nutrition consultations and referrals.
  • Provides nutrition education and counseling for patients, colleagues and community through verbal communication, written materials, presentations, in-services, or other.
  • Communicates as appropriate with other members of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure that nutrition intervention effectively and appropriately complements patients' overall care plans pertaining to medical nutrition therapy.
  • Identifies learning needs of patients and caregivers and provides appropriate education.
  • Is a role model for others, self-directed, inventive, considers new possibilities, works collaboratively, leads and mentors less experienced colleagues.
  • Continues to learn about, contribute to and/or apply new evidenced-based practices or innovations.
  • May develop and/or collaborate with management to implement the institutional standards and policies related to new evidenced-based practices or initiatives.
  • Assists in the Peer Review/Quality Improvement process. Leads initiatives related to nutrition performance improvement and research.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Coordinated Program, Dietetic Program, Dietetic Internship or Pre-professional Practice program all accredited by the Commission on Accreditation/Approval for Dietetics Education (CAADE) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is required. Master's degree preferred.
  • Must be registered with the Commission of Dietetic Registration or registration-eligible.
  • Must be licensed in the state of Idaho and Oregon or obtain license within 90-days of hire.
  • 3-5 years of clinical nutrition experience is preferred. Board certification in related area preferred (i.e. CSO credential for Oncology).
  • Knowledge of performance improvement practices and methods preferred. Knowledge of Clinical Nutrition Productivity preferred.
