PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION

The Clinical Data Analyst (CDA) reports to the Director of Corporate Quality and Safety. Under general supervision and within BVHS established policies, the Clinical Data Analyst analyzes, evaluates, manages, reports, and consults on various sources of quality, safety, infection control and other performance data throughout BVHS entities. The CDA supports evidence-based development and implementation of BVHS's improvement agenda for clinical excellence and safety and the implementation of BVHS's evidence-based performance improvement initiatives.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Duty 1: Develops and is responsible for data collection, dashboards, and management of data delivery to leadership, providers and all other stakeholders as frequently as needed.

Duty 2: Researches and identifies performance metrics including primary and secondary data sources, and data management (i.e., developing and appropriately manipulating electronic performance data repositories to support departmental analytic activities).

Duty 3: Proactively evaluates all performance data for statistical accuracy and validity. Searches for and identifies statistical threats in data accuracy and validity.

Duty 4: Identifies, collects, and analyzes data. Uses collected data to define and measure quality, safety, and infection control to identify variation from accepted standards of practice and define patterns and trends.

Duty 5: Develops data and analysis to support improving quality program initiatives, monitors quality improvement programs and acts as a resource to support improvement projects

Duty 6: Acts as a resource on quality metrics, benchmarking and performance measurement for BVHS.

Duty 7: Proactively identifies and communicates potential issues that could affect data quality and is responsible for establishing how missing or inaccurate data will be handled within the specific project.

Duty 8: Participates in system testing, data validation, and quality control efforts associated with quality, safety and infection control.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in nursing, health care, informatics, or information systems or related field or commensurate experience.
  • Two to five years of experience in an analytic role in a health care setting or demonstrated experience in research, statistical analyses, quantitative and qualitative assessment.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certification required within 24 months of employment.
  • Strong analytical, systems-thinking, project management, and facilitation skills aimed at performance improvement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft programs including Word, Excel, Visio, Microsoft BI and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to be self-directed
  • Ability to obtain quality initiative and specification details from federal and state manuals.
  • Able to identify deviation from specification details and evidence-based care and appropriately
  • High level of interpersonal and communications skills to effectively consult with all levels of leadership, management, and non-management employees.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced data display skills are required for analysis and graphing and attention to detail.

  • Master's degree
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position requires a full range of body motion with intermittent bending, squatting, kneeling, and twisting. The associate must be able to sit for three hours, walk for one hour and stand for two hours per day. The associate must be able to lift 20 pounds. The individual must have excellent eye/hand coordination to operate the machines. This position requires corrected vision and hearing in the normal range. This position requires excellent verbal skills to communicate with applicants, employees and management. The associate must be able to operate a motor vehicle.

This position is classified "at risk" for possible occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens (HBV, HIV, etc.)
