Overview

Over a training period, typically less than 24 months, the Adjuster Associate is learning all aspects of Global Specialty's Claims handling processes. Upon completion of required training, the Associate is often assigned to lower severity, non-litigated claims; the work is reviewed and signed off by a supervisor or manager. The Associate is responsible for prompt review of insurance claims through effective research, evaluation, investigation, negotiation and interaction with insureds and claimants. The position can anticipate frequent oversight by the supervisor based on the learning curve. Maintains a solid understanding of AmTrust's mission, vision, and values. Upholds the standards of the AmTrust and Claims organization.

Responsibilities

  1. Actively participates in extended training sessions for 3-6 weeks, upon hiring.
  2. Reviews, processes, and concludes lower severity claims following company protocols and trained methodology.
  3. Whether directly or indirectly interacting with customers, ensures quality and timeline service is provided to all.
  4. Verifies coverage and policy conditions. Review coverage and policy issues as needed with supervisor until proficient.
  5. Investigates through the collection of all data, statements, and other pertinent information.
  6. Settles and negotiates non-litigated claims with oversight and coaching from manager
  7. Leverages and builds critical thinking and decision-making skills to gather, assess, analyze, question, verify, interpret, and understand key or root issues.
  8. Demonstrates ability to learn technical materials and learns from mistakes to achieve best possible outcomes for claimant, customer, and company.
  9. Writes in a clear, succinct, and fact-based manner in Claims files as well as in other communication.
  10. Manages time and diary entries effectively and efficiently, prioritizing work in a fast-paced environment.
  11. Performs other functional duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office suites
  • Demonstrated skills in investigation, evaluation, and negotiation
  • Some knowledge of insurance theory and practices
  • The ability to work independently, in a remote environment, with an expectation that when Claims offices can safely reopen, the position may no longer be a remote work assignment


Preferred:
  • Ability to travel is required for some positions
