T-O Engineers, an Ardurra Company is seeking a motivated Civil Engineer/Traffic Engineer to join our Meridian, ID office.

This position can be filled at any of our Washington, Idaho, Wyoming, or Utah offices, with direct reporting to one of our Regional Transportation Managers.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
  • EI/EIT certificate
  • 2-4+ years of experience preferred in traffic or highway/geometric design
  • Previous internships or work experience in transportation projects is a plus
  • Experience with traffic analysis tools and micro- and/or mesoscopic models such as Highway Capacity Software, Synchro/SimTraffic, SIDRA, VISSIM, and TransModeler is desirable
  • Experience using MicroStation with Inroads, OpenRoads, Geopak, Civil3D or other CAD design software
  • Familiarity with AASHTO, MUTCD, ITE, and other planning and design support resources is preferred
  • Ability to develop designs and documentation using the listed software packages
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office: Excel, Word
  • Self-starter with excellent communication, written and organizational skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail and quality
  • Work cooperatively with other team members

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Project Engineers in development of transportation/traffic studies such as traffic operations analyses, traffic impact analyses, and signal timing plans
  • Operational traffic analysis may include using a variety of analysis tools ranging from highway capacity software, synchro, and SIDRA to complex micro-simulation models in order analyze everything from isolated intersections and roundabouts to urban arterials and freeway segments
  • Prepare Construction Plans, Specifications, and Estimates for a variety of projects for the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD), cities and local highway districts.
  • Perform assignments under the direct supervision of a Professional Engineer in support of transportation design projects
  • Work in a team environment on the detailed design of urban and rural roadway projects using state, county, city or AASHTO standards for the design of: horizontal and vertical alignments, cross sections, intersection layout, interchange layout, roadway drainage including hydraulic reports, right of way plans, traffic design, and utility coordination
  • Produce portions of the following plans: Roadway Sections, Erosion Control, Roadway Plan and Profiles, Drainage Plans and Profiles, Utility Plans, Signal Plans, Sign and Pavement Marking Plans, Traffic Control Plans and Construction Estimates
  • Assist with the creation and submission of technical reports, specifications, and calculations
  • Assist on construction engineering and inspection projects in the field
  • Some travel may be required
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Ability to navigate various locations and settings of the company
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to safely operate a vehicle
