Job Purpose

Are you passionate about driving continuous improvement and fostering a culture of excellence? We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Continuous Improvement Specialist II to join our team. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in championing, developing, and sustaining a culture of continuous improvement across all areas of our site, with a strong focus on manufacturing and operations in the wood coating industry.

Key Responsibilities

Building Organizational Capabilities:

Develop and expand local capabilities in applying continuous improvement tools and methods, such as Lean and Six Sigma, while promoting a structured problem-solving approach.
Deploy and sustain the ALPS manufacturing program, providing coaching support to drive CI initiatives and ensure sustainability of improvements.
Coach Advanced and Lead Practitioners and local staff/MT on-site, providing reinforcement training on selected topics.

Site Performance Enhancement:

Support and challenge the workforce and local management team in setting direction, prioritizing improvement activities, and implementing initiatives to achieve key performance indicators.
Review the ALPS operating framework to ensure compliance with corporate requirements and highlight areas of improvement to the site management team.

Improvement Portfolio Management:

Identify, validate, initiate, and drive new improvement opportunities, managing the improvement project funnel and ensuring sustainability of outcomes.
Lead improvement projects, delivering value to the organization and promoting a passion for excellence and commitment to delivering results.

CI Deployment:

Lead/support the local CI implementation and build-up of required capabilities, ensuring successful application on a daily basis.
Network within the AkzoNobel CI community, sharing insights, problems, and opportunities to promote improved performance and problem-solving across the company.

Level of Autonomy

As a Continuous Improvement Specialist II, you will work under the direction of the CI Manager, effectively supporting operational performance and analyzing data to recommend solutions. You will have the autonomy to make decisions independently to drive improvement initiatives.

Job Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in operations, production, maintenance, logistics, or continuous improvement.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in technical, business, or engineering field.
  • Experience in continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, TPM (Brown Belt).
  • Confident and experienced in coaching others, with prior line management or team leader experience.
  • Strong project and stakeholder management experience, along with excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in English, both verbal and written, and strong computer skills.
  • Willingness to train as an AkzoNobel lean six sigma black belt.
  • Passionate about change and exceptional performance, with a proactive and risk-friendly mindset.

Compensation/Benefits

The salary range for these skills is: $80,000 - $90,000.00. This is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This salary range may also be modified in the future.
