Position Summary:

The adhesive chemist will be responsible for assisting in the design/improvement of products (liquid and transfer film adhesives), and customer recommendations for all product lines which includes sealing, brake applications and NVH / NSV.

Essential Responsibilities

Position Responsibilities:

  • Supports new product development, performance improvement of existing products, and conducts chemical research and development related to adhesives industry.
  • Works closely and cooperatively with chemists, technicians, customers and suppliers. Participates in the development, testing, qualification and scale-up of adhesive formulations including development of project plans and timelines, and execution of project plans.
  • Provides technical support/troubleshooting to technology applicable issues in manufacturing or related to product performance as needed.
  • Characterizes materials, screens, optimizes, and collects reproducible data for developing test methodologies. Sign of experiment in practical aspects.
  • Provides regular updates of individual projects through monthly reviews, technical reviews, and stage-gate reviews.
  • Maintains working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned according to the higher priorities requested by R&D and engineering department (multi-tasking).

Position Requirements

Position Requirements:

  • Master or bachelor's degree in Polymer Chemistry/Polymer Engineering/Chemical Engineering or related fields with two years of experience in adhesive industry (liquid and pressure sensitive adhesives).
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, patents, ASTMs, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Experience with polymer and material conventional testing methods (chemical and mechanical) such as: DSC, TGA, DMA, rhemoetry, IR, UV, ...
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). Minitab, and MATLAB. Utilize various software to develop and implement Design of Experiments
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Problem solving and analysis skills that include the collection, evaluation and reporting of data and information related to system problems and observations.
  • Strong communication skills that include attentive listening, ability to respond to opinions constructively and effectively present ideas to an audience.
