We are seeking to fill a Change Coordinator & New Product Introduction (NPI) Material Planner role within Engineering in Radford, VA. This role is well suited for a person with 3-5 years' experience with Material Planning in a high-tech electronics environment who is interested in working in a hands-on and team-oriented environment.

In this role, the candidate will be responsible for Engineering Change Management as well as New Product Introduction Material Planning Tasks. Duties involve managing and implementing Bills of Materials and Engineering Change orders, managing prototype and pilot electronics builds, as well as managing the handoff of material planning from engineering to production.

A qualified candidate should have strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to juggle multiple projects with conflicting priorities. Interest and willingness to work and contribute within a collaborative team is a must.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Engineering Change Management and Configuration Coordinator
    • Implement engineering change orders (ECOs), ensuring completion and approval within a timely manner
    • Create and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs) for products.
    • Help collect documentation and answer questions with regards to ECOs and BOMs.
    • Communicate ECOs and Build Packages to contract manufacturers, ensuring alignment and revision control
  • New Product Introduction (NPI) Material Planner
    • Plan material during the R&D and Pre-Production phases of new products
    • Manage new product and material delivery schedules
    • Work with Engineering teams and Supply Chain to create manufacturing build plan with regards to long lead material and product demand.
    • Manage the ordering of equipment, material, and beta products to support the needs of engineering and certification teams.
    • Provide forecasts and other relevant information to contract manufacturers as required to support future production runs.
    • Develop and maintain positive relationships with contract manufacturers to ensure fulfillment of material and product needs.
    • Review and manage excess inventory from prototypes pilot builds
    • Ensure a smooth handoff of material planning to production manufacturing after validation and pilot builds have been completed.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Lead weekly status meetings with contract manufacturers

Responsibilities will be commensurate with work experience.

Job Requirements
Critical Competencies

Required:
  • General end-to-end knowledge of supply chain and manufacturing operations
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel)
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects with conflicting priorities
  • Ability to collaborate with other team members
  • Ability to effectively communicate in cross functional and peer group settings
  • Result oriented, self-starting, and proactive

Preferred:
  • Experience with MRP systems (Oracle preferred)
  • Familiarity with PLM systems (PTC Windchill preferred)
  • Basic understanding of electronic components and printed circuit board assemblies

Education and Experience Requirements
  • 4 year technical degree or related technical experience preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in Material Planning in a high-tech electronics environment preferred
