About the Position:

The SMU Health Center Pharmacy in the Dr. Bob Smith Health Center is seeking a temporary, part-time pharmacy technician. The SMU Health Center Pharmacy is open Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

This position will work approximately 15 to 20 hours per week during the school year.

Essential Functions:

  • Greet customers and answer phone, providing excellent customer, on the phone and at the counter.
  • Receive prescriptions and handle refill requests. Input new prescriptions and refill prescriptions.
  • Process insurance claims (including rejections) in a proficient manner.
  • Assist pharmacist in filling and labeling prescriptions.
  • Establish and maintain patient records.
  • Assist with management of pharmacy inventory; assist in required physical inventory audits twice a year. Assist with order and receiving of stock.


Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Minimum education high school diploma or equivalent.

National certification with PTCB.

Registered and in good standing with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy

Minimum of one year of pharmacy work experience.

Computer literate with pharmacy operating systems.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Candidate must have excellent customer service skills.

Must be attentive to details and accuracy.

Candidate must comply with HIPAA compliance regulations and health center policies.

Must ensure confidentiality of patient information and medical records.
