GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW
The MGH Transplant and Cellular Therapy Coordinators play a critical role in the day to day operations of the Stem Cell Transplant and Cellular Therapies programs. They support physicians, advanced practitioners, program nurses, research staff and processing technologists. They assist in the orchestration of high risk, highly complex clinical services while adhering to strict industry standards and guidelines set forth by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT), National Marrow Donor Program - BeTheMatch Registry, FDA and Joint Commission. They must act autonomously, use critical thinking and have sound judgment. They are required to manage multiple and diverse computer systems. These systems include but are not limited to portals used to request the manufacturing of cellular therapy products or to coordinate donor searches, work ups and collections. The Transplant and Cellular Therapy coordinators have an impact on patients, donors and their families daily as they prepare them for cell collection, admission, infusion or transplant. The transplant and cellular therapy coordinators are under the supervision and guidance of the department's administrative manager.
