Job Profile Summary

Solicit, sell and coordinate weddings, social events (rehearsal dinner, bridal shower, fashion show, etc.), corporate events without guestrooms, holiday parties and all other functions as assigned. Issue and negotiate contractual agreements for these functions. Responsible for maximizing food and beverage revenues from assigned market through solicitation and upselling. Effectively communicate to all hotel departments the information necessary to successfully execute the group's needs while maintaining a good client relationship. Responsible for soliciting new catering accounts, entertaining and maintaining relationships with existing accounts to meet and/or exceed food and beverage revenue goals. Oversee client functions to ensure customer satisfaction.

CANDIDATE PROFILE
• Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
• Knowledge of types of room set-ups, capacities, relation to type of events, etc. Knowledge of wedding details and how to conduct a ceremony.
• At least one year catering sales or conference services experience preferred.
• To be successful you will need to have the ability to handle multiple priorities, possess written and verbal skills for effective communication, be competent in organizational, time management skills and demonstrate good judgment, problem solving and decision making skills.
• Proficiency in computer skills, Microsoft Office & the ability to learn new applications. Marriott sales system knowledge a plus.

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

• Maintain strong client relations and ensure that event specifications are communicated and executed for a successful event.
• Solicit catering business.
• Monitor event activities on-site to ensure accurate and timely execution of arrangements.
• Produce and distribute resumes and communicate any changes updating information to hotel departments.
• Distribute BEO's for events in combination with Conference Service Manager.
• Accurately forecast group food and beverage revenues for assigned groups and affiliate business

• Conduct site visits and planning meetings for potential and definite business.
• Send payment information to event contacts, verify that we have received, monitor deposits and be able to determine what balances are due to obtain payments appropriately.
• Must have a comprehensive knowledge of the English language to effectively communicate with guests, associates, and vendors.
• Ability to accurately report information.
• Most tasks are performed in a team environment with the employee acting as a team leader. There is minimal direct supervision.
• Extensive knowledge of food and beverage products, proper preparation and presentation of food and beverage items.
• Extensive knowledge of meeting room capacities, banquet set-up, and any other pertinent details as they relate to function room set-up.
• Knowledge of hotel and competitive market.
• Must possess basic computational ability.
• Must possess computer skills, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Excellent inter-personal and sales-related skills.
• Exceptional organizational skills.
• Projects and assignments are completed thoroughly, professionally, and with care.
• Adjusts to high-pressure conditions and is open to change.
• Assumes responsibility for personal growth and development.
• Conducts him\herself (acts and dresses) professionally at all times; sets standards for all associates.
