Summary

This position is responsible for providing assessment case management services to inmates in accordance with the requirements of the contract and the principles of the GEO Continuum of Care. Key components of the GEO Continuum of Care include specialized staff training, enhanced GEOtrack case management, evidence-based interventions, education and vocational programs, transition planning, and post release support. This position provides assessment services and assists inmates in determining placement into appropriate rehabilitative programs targeting needs in assessment process in alignment with GEO’s Continuum of Care.



Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participates in appropriate training for designated responsibilities.  
  • Utilizes GEO’s proprietary electronic case management system “GEOtrack” to record initial and ongoing assessment results, programmatic recommendations, and preliminary transition planning with Continuum of Care team. 
  • Interviews newly admitted inmates. Develops detailed knowledge of those assigned for the purpose of assessment and placement into programming.
  • Conducts all required preliminary and secondary assessments on an initial and periodic basis as required by the assessment protocol.
  • Responsible for recording results of assessment in GEO’s proprietary electronic case management system “GEOtrack” and reporting results to necessary parties for appropriate review and follow up.
  • Assists in assigning inmates to appropriate academic, vocational, evidence based interventions, and preliminary transition services based on assessment results.
  • May serve as an active participant on the classification teaming committee meetings to determine assigned housing, in addition to appropriate work and rehabilitation programs.
  • May serve on the discipline committee.
  • Refers inmates with serious problems to professional counseling staff.
  • May provide assistance to inmates in obtaining needed services. Serves as a representative for the inmate at classification committee meetings.
  • Maintains appropriate documentation of inmate contacts as detailed in the agency program procedures.
  • Performs other related marginal duties as assigned by management. 

 





Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent certification required. Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, sociology, or a closely related field is desirable.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in a correctional setting required.
  • Possess or develop a thorough understanding of the Principles of Effective Intervention that empirical evidence demonstrates reduces recidivism
  • Must possess the ability to work with a team of professionals and have the ability to implement team strategy approaches to work assignments.
  • Must be flexible, cooperative and empathetic to needs of staff and inmates.
  • Ability to prepare written reports; to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; and to learn rules, regulations, and security procedures required by the facility.
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
