Position Overview:

Motiva is seeking a Capital Analyst Lead to actively manage the end-to-end processes for fixed assets and to provide financial support for both the Capital Projects Organization and Turnaround Organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Interpretation and application of accounting policy for fixed assets including Site and Major capital projects, turnaround costs, precious metals, chemicals, catalyst and other areas of overlap such as plant change, warehouse inventory, etc;
  • Perform capital versus expense determinations
  • Drive compliance with Delegation of Authority for all capital projects and turnarounds
  • Direct team members in managing the fixed assets process for all capital projects, turnarounds and catalyst projects
  • Responsible for fixed asset controls management
  • Direct team members in providing support for all costing including budget development, latest estimates, external project reporting, value of work done, cost allocations, capital month-end closing
  • Direct team members in providing end-to-end management support of catalyst change out process including annual planning, investment process, appropriations, cost management of event and LE.
  • Participate in Turnaround strategy planning, Asset Master Planning, and capital strategy planning
  • Provide challenge and support for all capital projects as member of Project Review Committee
  • Analysis and assurance for all project economics for all capital projects, complete economics when required
  • Complete lease versus buy analysis and advise business
  • Support annual budget and monthly latest estimate process
  • Participate on special projects in support of finance and the refinery
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS, GAAP, and Motiva Accounting policies
  • Drive compliance with Delegation of Authority for all capital projects, turnarounds and catalyst projects
  • Provide independent assurance and challenge for all capital projects to include business justification and economic premises
  • Directing team members in managing the fixed assets process for all capital projects, turnarounds and catalysts

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration; advanced degree preferred
  • A minimum of 10 years in Finance, Accounting, or General Management position with strong knowledge of financial systems including SAP and the Microsoft suite of programs
