Job Summary

The BI Report Developer will be responsible for the design, development, implementation, and support of mission-critical enterprise Business Intelligence (BI) reports for Bloomington Auxiliary Business Services. This position will provide the opportunity to:

  • Collaborate with functional business clients and other teams within the central information technology organization.
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with all of these groups through careful consideration and thorough communication on analysis and programming assignments. Work as an effective leader on the team providing training, guidance, and mentoring to less experienced staff.
  • Demonstrate initiative, creativity, and innovation in the development of stable, maintainable, and efficient dashboard reports.
Works independently to translate business requirements into specifications and design/implement required reports and dashboards, from potentially multiple data sources. Additionally, participates in business analysis activities to gather required reporting and dashboard requirements and transition developed reports and dashboards to central IT, and provides technical assistance and cross training to other team members. Provides support for internal and external users.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and two years of BI/data visualization tools, SQL engines, data reporting/analytics development, statistical analysis/interpretation of data, or related experience.

Combinations of education and related experience may be considered.

Excellent interpersonal skills and a customer service orientation. Excellent ability to effectively communicate and exchange information. Proficient with Power BI. Experience with SQL Server and Oracle databases. Performance tuning experience related to reporting queries required. Understanding of data integration issues (validation and cleaning), familiarity with complex data and structures. Strong analytical, conceptual and problem-solving abilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities, and assess and adjust quickly to changing priorities

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Systems, or a related discipline. Three or more years of experience. Programming/scripting experience and knowledge of software development life cycle. Professional experience developing and implementing enterprise-scale reports and dashboards, including working with users in a requirements analysis role, experience with data warehouse implementations, and knowledge of logical and physical data modeling concepts (relational and dimensional).
