Background information:
Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), provider of automated software testing, data analysis, and cybersecurity solutions for complex, mission-critical systems in the US Department of Defense (DOD), is seeking a Director / Sr. Manager, Business Development to be based in our Arlington, VA; Mt Laurel, NJ; and Fall River, MA offices.

Overview:
IDT is in search of a Director / Sr. Manager, Business Development who will be responsible for identifying, qualifying and pursuing new business opportunities within the U.S. Defense and adjacent markets. This individual will support strategic growth and lead the execution of tactical business development activities by development and maintaining the pipeline of new business coming into the company.

The Director / Sr. Manager will report within the Vice President of Business Development's organization and will work with IDT Business Area and Product & Technology Leads to develop and execute strategies within specific customer markets that will feed into a larger integrated strategic business and technical growth strategy. The ideal candidate will have detailed knowledge of the DoD procurement process, expertise in Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) procurement, knowledge of the marketplace and of the company's competitors, and experience working with government resources for targeting, prospecting, and qualifying new opportunities.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Identify and capture new business
  • Lead the seeding, maintaining, and growth of SBIR Ph.1, 2, and 3 opportunities
  • Interface with external senior level customers within the US DoD market
  • Execute and support development of a metric based new business process
  • Interface with internal Business Area and Product & Technology Leads to expand existing business
  • Lead proposal development and generate proposal content
  • Lead external tradeshow message execution
  • Promulgate BD vision, goals, and growth strategies
Minimum Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business or technical discipline; MBA preferred
  • 10+ years experience in DoD, including significant experience in Business Development / marketing activities
Required Skills:
  • Experience in identifying, pursuing and winning competitive DoD opportunities
  • Experience with the SBIR process, timelines, phases, and customers
  • Experience in reading, interpreting and responding to government RFP's
  • Experience in leading DoD Proposal development processes and generating proposal content
  • Experience interpreting defense contract terms and conditions and Non Disclosure Agreements
  • Experience with issue identification and risk mitigation
  • Knowledge of U.S. Defense marketplace with emphasis on complex software systems
  • Demonstrated ability to establish senior-level relationships with DoD and DoD contractor organizations
  • Ability to develop technical and strategic marketing information targeted for senior DoD decision makers
  • Ability to develop and present IDT technology information articulating IDT value proposition
  • Ability to travel approximately 20%
