Department WFSU, located in Tallahassee, FL, is a licensee of Florida State University and the NPR and PBS affiliate for approximately 25 counties in North Florida serving Tallahassee, Panama City, and Thomasville, GA. We are located in the heart of Florida's Capitol and within 100 miles of the beautiful gulf coast beaches.Responsibilities Maintains, repairs, adjusts, and installs a wide range of electronic equipment including but not limited to; TV cameras, video and audio tape machines, video, and audio servers, STL, exciters, HV electrical systems, heat exchangers video and audio switching and distribution systems, measurement and calibration equipment and Master Control video server and automation systems. Installation, maintenance, and repair of TV and Radio transmitters/translators along with microwave.
Assists in the maintenance and operation of UHF television transmitters, FM transmitters, microwave systems, and satellite receive systems. Install video/audio over IP systems. Maintain, repaired, and install equipment for Satellite Operations Center.
Maintains work areas, tools, and inventory. Maintains telecommunication systems at the studio and remote facilities. Ensure FCC compliance at local and remote sites.
Assists with the general maintenance and upkeep of the physical plant. Preventive maintenance of plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and RF at remote facilities. Maintain STLs and backhaul gear.
Assist, Install IT gear, and backup IT department in all facets of the IT needs at the facilities. Backup Chief Operator in FCC compliance. On-call for emergency needs of the facilities.
Maintains technical proficiency in all areas of responsibility through review and evaluation of technical writings, manuals, data sheets, and manufacturer-supported schools. Assist WFSU staff with their technical needs as they arise. Coordinate surplus disposal.Qualifications
High school diploma and four years of appropriate experience or a combination of post-high education or vocational/technical training equal to four years.

ConsiderationsThis is an USPS (University Support Personnel System) position.
This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check.
Monday through Friday, 9:00 am-5:00 pm; however, hours will vary and may include weekends and evenings. Flexibility is required.
The position provides after-hours support. Must be available to be on-call (via phone, remote access, in-person) during scheduled time as well as available for any off-air engineering emergencies.
