SUMMARY

The Engineer, Engineering Services is responsible for technical standards and reliability of B767-200/300 aircraft and CF6-80A & C series aircraft engines, Powerplant, auxiliary power unit (APU), and components. Plans, coordinates, directs and performs engineering assignments involving specifications for, and design changes or alterations to, aircraft, engines, systems, components, and field or shop equipment. To establish causes and to determine remedies for wear, malfunctions, or premature removals; analyzes and evaluates aircraft and associated equipment proposals; prepares technical data, procedures, reports, drawings, manuals, and other required publications. The Engineer, Engineering Services prepares engineering orders and repair specification packages for products based on gathered data.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following, but not limited to:

  • Provides technical assistance to operational departments and repair providers to support aircraft operations, engine repairs, and/or maintenance.
  • Reviews aircraft reliability data and implement corrective actions via engineering modification and/or repair documents in support of achieving aircraft technical dispatch reliability (TDR) goals.
  • Establishes build standards and specifications for engines, Powerplant, APUs, and components.
  • Develops and issues engineering orders to accomplish major and minor repairs, modifications, and alterations to engines, Powerplant, components, and accessories.
  • Manage and issue changes made to company maintenance procedures specified in the manufacturers’ manuals by Engineering Technical Notice ETN’s.
  • Manage and issue company special maintenance actions by Fleet Campaign Directives.
  • Develop engineering procedures, standards, and process specifications to comply with Airworthiness Directives and other regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluate damaged aircraft and engine parts and provide solutions beyond the applicable manual limitations in accordance with regulatory and original equipment manufacturer requirements.
  • Identify new technologies that will improve the operational performance and reliability of aircraft, engines, and components.
  • Review Service Bulletins, Service Letters, and other service documents to determine applicability. Perform cost-benefit analysis to determine the effectiveness of proposed modifications.
  • Coordinate engineering functions with regulatory agencies as required for approval for major repairs and alterations.
  • Other duties as assigned.


PERFORMANCE STANDARDS/MEASUREMENTS;
  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
  • Provide on-call off-hours support to Maintenance Control
  • Identify safety concerns, issues, incidents, or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary
  • Adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures, and risk controls
  • Upholding Amerijet’s safety performance metric goals


QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or CERTIFICATION:

  • A/P License
  • Bachelor of Science in Aviation and/or Engineering not required, but preferred.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:

  • FAA FAR part 121
  • Federal Aviation Regulations governing aircraft and engine certification
  • Proficient in MS Office Products
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak in both common and technical English proficiently.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 3 years of engineering experience
  • Possess excellent verbal and written skills as well as strong analytical abilities
  • Able to communicate technical issues in an assertive and tactful manner
  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills

SKILLS and/or ABILITIES:
  • Ability to communicate effectively; in both oral and written communication
  • Possess a strong ability to create detailed models and drawings.
  • Must demonstrate a high level of mechanical aptitude.


PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION:

Light physical effort required by handling objects up to 20 pounds occasionally and/or up-to 10 pounds frequently.

TRAVEL

This position may require travel domestically and internationally on special projects.
