POSITION PURPOSE:

Will resolve complex benefits issues, complete transactional processes, and provide ongoing employee support. Responsible for keeping benefits in compliance and assisting with the administration and data maintenance of benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, voluntary benefits, paid leave and 401(k).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs quality checks of benefits-related data
  • Partners with the benefits analyst to fix any identified data and system issues pertaining to employee benefits
  • Assists with employee and manager benefits inquiries often handling more complex questions and resolutions
  • Reconciles HSA, FSA, and 401(k) elections against vendor records
  • Reports weekly demographic changes to People Services, Payroll and 401(k)
  • Responsible for keeping benefits plans in compliance by monitoring regulatory changes, deadlines, performing tasks and escalating risks
  • Responsible for monitoring ACA employee classification, ensuring employees are classified correctly and raising any potential risks proactively
  • Enters benefit deduction changes into the payroll system weekly, ensuring deductions are entered in accurately
  • Reconcile monthly and quarterly benefits invoices and submit applicable check requests or notifications to Accounts Payable
  • Assists with the open enrollment process and ACA annual filing
  • Ensures necessary plan documents are in place and government-mandated disclosures, e.g. summary documents, are distributed to eligible employees.
  • Assists with benefits plan changes and communication as necessary
  • Other Benefits related tasks as needed

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Extensive knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws
  • Ability to follow through and see tasks to completion
  • Ability to be proactive and ensure accuracy
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to raise issues proactively and in a timely manner.
  • Well-developed team skills, unquestioned integrity
  • Strong technology aptitude with excellent MS Office suite skills
  • Ability to manipulate data to solve problems and improve process
  • Proven customer service, organizational and collaboration skills

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field
  • 3+ years of direct experience in employee benefits
  • Experience with self-funded health plans a plus
  • Experience with HR/Payrollsystems (MS Dynamics GP a plus)
  • Experience handling sensitive HR data and issues
