Position Summary

The Sanitation Lead will plan, direct, and control daily and nightly cleaning activities to meet established standards. Position is responsible for following proper procedures to clean industrialized equipment, ensure adherence to food safety standards and assist in minimizing down time. Is also responsible for assisting the Sanitation Supervisor in monitoring and ensuring proper sanitation throughout the facility as well as recommending improvements in manufacturing methods and sanitation practices to management.

The Sanitation Technician will plan, direct, and control daily and nightly cleaning activities to meet established standards. Position is responsible for following proper procedures to clean industrialized equipment, ensure adherence to food safety standards and assist in minimizing down time.

Essential Accountabilities

  • Plans, manages and directs plant sanitation procedures, programs and regulatory requirements, ensuring all plant equipment is clean and safe for production.
  • Adhering to high sanitation, GMP, and safety standards.
  • Develops operating policies and procedures as necessary.
  • Mentors and motivates associates, providing training and development top optimize their performance and personal growth.
  • Facilities problem resolution related to sanitation and sanitation quality issues.
  • Follows up on work orders with the appropriate associates to ensure expeditious performance of the requested work.
  • Performs other related responsibilities, as needed, to support Ferrara Pan Candy Company business objectives.
  • Back-up to sanitation supervisor in his/her absence: lead sanitation operator.
  • Create SSOP's for the equipment and plant structures as needed.
  • Conduct internal food safety and work safety audit as a part of the food safety team and safety committee.
  • Train Sanitation and production employees on proper sanitation and sanitizing.
  • Ensure cleaning tasks are competed adequately and on time.

Skills that will make you successful

Knowledge, Skills, Education and Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years sanitation experience in the food-industry preferred
  • • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals
  • • Basic knowledge of HACCP, BRC food safety and GMP principles
  • • Sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines; self-directed
  • • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize; ability to work under pressure and meet established goals and objectives
  • • Demonstrated knowledge of efficient and safe manufacturing operations to include product and associate safety, product quality (success rates), throughput delivery and cost control (minimizing downtime and waste, optimizing yield)
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office software
