Overview

Reporting to the Head of Business Development, AmTrust Specialty the Assistant Vice President of Business Development is responsible for carrying out the sales functions and goals of AmTrust's Specialty business, with a focus on an assigned Region and/or Product set. AmTrust Specialty is a +$1.2B Specialty Insurance platform that includes Wholesale E&S brokerage, Delegated Underwriting Authority, and Management Liability businesses. This position will work with current and prospective customers to identify wants/needs to expand our trading relationships, then collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders to create solutions and ensure a smooth sales process. In addition to work on prospecting and onboarding new relationships, the individual will also work on an on-going basis with the balance of the team to engage with and service evolving needs of existing client relationships. Maintains a solid understanding of AmTrust's mission, vision, and values. Upholds the standards of the AmTrust organization.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, prospect and qualify significant partnerships via Wholesale Brokerages, Program Administrators, Intermediaries and Reinsurance Brokers that align with our appetite and capabilities.
  • Steward new wholesale partnership opportunities through a multi-faceted due diligence process engaging across several different disciplines including Underwriting, Actuarial, Finance, Legal, Operations, Loss Control, and Compliance.
  • Maintain continuous understanding of key client concerns and challenges specific to the particular market niche they serve, and leverage internal resources to maximize program potential and client satisfaction.
  • Lead participation in key conferences and industry events that are critical to the visibility of the AmTrust Specialty division, with an emphasis on our E&S Wholesale business.
  • Analyze Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats for AmTrust Specialty and engage in strategic efforts to maintain and increase relevance in a competitive market space.
  • Lead in management of several key national brokerage relationships leveraging all AmTrust Specialty operating unit capabilities inclusive of Program, Wholesale E&S, and Management Liability platforms.


Qualifications

  • Must possess +10 years of relevant program business development or underwriting experience
  • Must possess an understanding of the Delegated Underwriting Authority marketplace and recent experience in this market
  • Must be able to demonstrate exceptional written and oral presentation skills
  • Proven track record of exceeding sales goals and developing relationships
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Ability to travel as required
