ABOUT CAMPBELLSVILLE UNIVERSITY

Founded in 1906, Campbellsville University is a private Kentucky-based Christian institution dedicated to academic excellence solidly grounded in the liberal arts. The University's main campus is located in the city of Campbellsville, with regional sites throughout Kentucky and in Los Angeles and Ontario, Canada. Campbellsville University, ranked in U.S. News' "America's Best Colleges" Top 100 Regional Universities of the South, offers its 9,769 (Fall 2023) students more than 120 programs of study including Ph.D., Doctorate of Chiropractic, 31 master's programs and 53 bachelor's programs, as well as 12 certificate/endorsements. Additionally, there are 57 fully online academic programs, including six associate's, eight bachelor's and 31 master's degrees, as well as 12 certificates/endorsements. Most recently, Campbellsville University opened the first and only school of Chiropractic Medicine in Kentucky, which is located in Harrodsburg at the Conover Education Center.

The University is home to a diverse student population with minorities and underrepresented students making up 12% of the domestic and 49% of the combined domestic and international populations representing 95 countries.

Campbellsville University's Campbellsville campus is located one-half mile from downtown Campbellsville, 82 miles southwest of Lexington, and 80 miles southeast of Louisville. Additionally the University has off-campus centers throughout the Commonwealth in Louisville, Harrodsburg, Hodgenville, Owensboro, Somerset and Windsor-Ontario. In 2019, the University opened an education center in Los Angeles to offer a Master of Marriage and Family Therapy.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Campbellsville University is seeking a dedicated, organized and collegial leader to serve as the Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs. The position requires a self-motivated individual with a commitment to Campbellsville University's Christ-centered mission.

Reporting to the Vice President for Academic Affairs and serving as a member of the President's Cabinet, the Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs will provide leadership for Curriculum Development and Refinement, the College of Arts and Sciences, the Library and General Education. The AVP also provides guidance for faculty in areas of employment, development, research and policy. This is a full-time, exempt, 12-month faculty contract position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Faculty

  • Promotes excellence in instruction and student success Assists with issues and concerns pertaining to established policies and procedures including resolving difficult and sensitive student inquiries and complaints Provides leadership for professional development, program review and general education

Curriculum

  • Provides leadership for development and refinement of academic programs Leads faculty and academic staff in making data-informed decisions Builds and fosters collaborative programs and initiatives such as articulation agreements and collaborative partnerships Promotes the effective use of technology in the instructional environment

Team Development

  • Supervises and evaluates direct reports including Director of Library Services, Director of the Cheatham Center for Teaching and Learning, and Director of Research and Creative Scholarship Active involvement in recruiting new faculty and academic staff as needed

Broader University Involvement

  • Provides oversight to the College of Arts and Sciences Serves as member of the President's Cabinet Serves on University committees as assigned Treats members of the campus community with fairness, dignity and respect - seeking a spirit of unity and harmony to achieve a common mission Honors the mission of Campbellsville University and complies with policies and procedures Fulfills other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Academic Affairs

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will possess these qualifications:

  • Earned doctorate degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • Qualifications appropriate for a tenured appointment in an academic department
  • Five years or more experience as a department head or dean at a university with an exhibited understanding and readiness to contribute to the liberal arts mission of the institution
  • Demonstrated experience in working collaboratively with faculty and academic staff
  • Ability to and evidence of working effectively with diverse constituencies
  • A commitment to lifelong learning and professional growth
  • Effective interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
  • Strong commitment to CU's authentic Christ-centered mission
  • Experience with academic leadership at a multi-site institution preferred
