Department Summary:

The Department of English at the University of North Texas invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in postcolonial, decolonial and/or Indigenous literary studies with specializations in any related period or area.

UNT is an R1 Minority Serving and Hispanic Serving Institution in the vibrant Dallas-Fort Worth metro region. Our English Department is comprised of energetic faculty involved in robust teaching and research projects in African American, Latinx, 2SLGBTQIA+ Studies, and Women's and Gender Studies, as well as cutting-edge work in British, American, transatlantic, and Anglophone literatures and cultures; creative writing; and rhetoric.

UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. We welcome candidates who have experience with HSI/MSIs and/or who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba.

Position Summary:

The successful candidate will teach a 2-2 course load in our undergraduate, Masters, and Ph.D. programs and will be expected to teach courses with specializations in postcolonial, transatlantic, and/or Native American and Indigenous literatures and cultures, and literary theory.

The Department of English is seeking a Assistant Professor with a specialty in Decolonial, Postcolonial, or NAIS Literature, open period. This position is needed to maintain and expand our developing strengths in race and ethnic studies, which builds on UNT's status as a majority-minority university. The person will teach a range of classes, such as ENGL 2331 (World Literature), ENGL 2342 (Forms of Literature), ENGL 1913 (Topics in World Literature), ENGL 3920 (Ethnic American Literatures), ENGL 4245 (Postcolonial Literature and Theory), ENGL 5530 (Studies in American Literature and Culture), ENGL 5810 (Survey of Critical Theory), ENGL 6810 (Topics in Critical Theory), ENGL 6820 (Topics in Cultural Studies).

Minimum Qualifications:

PHD in English or related field, active publication agenda, and demonstrated excellence in teaching.
