Job Summary
The Associate Research Award Coordinator, Office of Sponsored Research (OSR) Research Management Services (RMS), supervised by the Director of Proposals and Grants, is charged with providing award triage support to OSR proposals and contracts/awards teams. Triage includes identifying and evaluating all incoming notice of awards, and then assigning these matters to the relevant staff via electronic systems or other means. The individual will provide general research administration analysis and support to the OSR teams and will be trained and proficient in the following: award intake analysis and award set-up process. 

The OSR Associate Research Award Coordinator will complete the Research Administration 101 course and go through training specific to the role.  The successful candidate should eventually be able to perform the entire scope of the job, including independent assessment, analysis and processing of delegated award and subaward transactions. The individual will provide a high level of diligence, accuracy and outstanding customer service. The OSR Associate Research Award Coordinator will interact with a variety of stakeholders including Contracts and Grants Accounting Department (CGA), Conflict of Interest (COI), faculty, department post-award and other OSR staff. This position plays a critical role in workflow distribution and communications to campus personnel.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and 1+ years of relevant experience and/or equivalent experience/training
  • Ability to perform moderately complex financial analysis and customized reporting
  • Demonstrated competence in the use of spreadsheet and database software in financial analysis, fiscal management and financial reports
  • Maintains current knowledge of compliance regulations in all areas of research administration
  • Ability to manage a high volume of transactions
  • Ability to maintain independent judgment; strong organization; communication skills; and a customer service focus

Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, local, sponsor and institutional regulations, policies, and guidelines
  • Knowledge of applicable compliance requirements related to use of human or animal subjects in research, financial conflict of interest, biosafety, etc.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting, fiscal and reporting principles
