Detailed Position Information
The College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Alabama (UA), Tuscaloosa, invites applications for an tenure-track faculty position of Neuroscience (at the associate or full professor level) in the Department of Psychology. We are seeking candidates specialized in fields such as, Cognitive, Affective, Behavioral, or Social Neuroscience or related areas, and have expertise in using one or more neuroimaging techniques (MRI, fMRI, Diffusion Imaging, MR Spectroscopy etc.) in their research. The successful candidate will be part of a fast-growing neuroscience community as well as neuroscience initiatives on campus (e.g., undergraduate neuroscience major and minor, a brand-new MRI Center with a research-dedicated Siemens 3T Prisma scanner, etc.). The anticipated start date for the position is August 16, 2024.

The Department of Psychology has a rich and diverse group of basic, clinical, and translational researchers. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. and have established an active and productive research program in neuroscience. We seek a candidate with an active research program who has the history of securing extramural funding to support basic and/or translational research in neuroscience. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about collaborating with researchers from other disciplines and working in multi-disciplinary teams. Although a doctoral degree in Psychology or Neuroscience is preferred, candidates with degrees in other related fields will be considered. As faculty in the department of Psychology in either the Clinical or Experimental Program areas, the successful candidate will have resources for an active research lab and will mentor doctoral students. Candidates will also teach undergraduate and graduate courses in their area of expertise (e.g., newly added neurosciences). We are seeking candidates who will join us in achieving our department's vision of becoming globally prominent in the conduct and application of rigorous research in neuroscience using diverse neuroimaging techniques.
