The Associate Production Scientist at MilliporeSigma will manufacture and evaluate chemical products, provide technical support, and perform operations in support of the department.

Responsibilities:

include, but are not limited to, executing existing production procedures, updating supporting documents, and maintaining the safety and quality of the manufacturing environment. Additional responsibilities include: Perform operations to meet quality expectations throughout the manufacturing processPerform routine assays, processes and/or unit operationsComplete the volume of work required to achieve group/departmental goals and meet deadlinesContribute to support functions of the lab (e.g., maintain equipment, prepare reagents, restock lab supplies, waste disposal)Communicate the status of operations and bring deviations to the attention of the supervisorProvide complete and accurate records consistent with quality guidelinesEnsure all applicable logbooks have been filled out completely Interact with other departments as neededParticipate in quality audits Improve processes through application of scientific knowledge, experience, and principles while in compliance with change control proceduresIdentify opportunities for process improvement and participate in process improvements under the guidance of a Supervisor or ScientistResolve any unsafe conditionsAssist with training personnelAct as a technical consultant Perform and interpret analytical evaluations of products and intermediatesWork in both a large-scale process environment and a glass lab environmentShift/Hours: 12 hour night shift, 6:00 PM - 6:30 AM - 2/2/3 schedule (M/T on, W/R off, F/S/S on, M/T off, W/R on, F/S/S off, repeat)

Physical Attributes:

Work with open chemicals; wear appropriate PPE (including respirator, hard hats, glasses/goggles, chemical resistant suites, gloves, safety shoes)Lift up to 50 lbs.Push and pull heavy materials

Who You Are:

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or other life science discipline ORHigh School Diploma or GED and 4+ years of work experience in a chemical production, laboratory, or chemical engineering role

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of chemistry, math, and general scienceChemical production experience on the glassware scaleFamiliarity with laboratory instruments and production equipmentIndependent chemistry research lab or industrial experienceProcess techniques and unit operations experienceExperience in analytical techniques and equipment Experience with safe chemical handling methodsExcellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenStrong computer skills
