Job Summary

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Knoxville is accepting applications for the full-time position of Associate Instructor of Diesel Powered Equipment Technology. This position will work 7.5 hours per day, Monday - Friday, and 37.5 hours per week.

Job Duties

  • Instruction: Facilitate the classroom instructional process: evaluate and monitor student progress; assign grades; provide academic assistance to students; maintain attendance and grade records; counsel and advise students on career goals; work to retain students; maintain required classroom and office hours. - (Essential)
  • Course and Curriculum Development: Select texts, equipment, supplies, and other learning resources; participate in the purchase of needed program supplies and equipment; develop instructional materials; create and revise courses and/or curricula as needed; maintain updated course syllabi. - (Essential)
  • Professional Development: Remain current within the instructional field and technologies; acquire, maintain, and apply knowledge of current instructional methodologies and materials; attend scheduled college and division professional development and in-service activities; support related professional organizations; participate in the annual faculty evaluation process. - (Essential)
  • Service to Students: Comply with FERPA laws; participate in advising, recruitment, admissions, and orientation of potential students; assist students with job placement; support student activities, including SkillsUSA, NTHS, graduation, and other events. - (Essential)
  • Service to the College and Community: Assist in the recruitment and selection of college personnel as assigned; participate in accreditation, assessment, and performance funding processes; support and participate in the College's decision-making processes; provide input and assistance with budgets; attend convocation and commencement exercises and participate in mandatory college programs; develop and maintain positive and cooperative relationships with colleagues; maintain an active program advisory committee; work to meet and exceed COE benchmarks for student completion and placement as well as accreditation standards. - (Essential)
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or administration, on and off campus. - (Essential)

Minimum Qualifications

* Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalency.
* Post-secondary training of a diploma or associate's degree in a related field.
* Must have a minimum of 3 years of related work experience in the Diesel Field.
* Current ASE Service Technician Certifications are required.

Preferred Qualifications

* ASE Master Technician in Medium/Heavy Duty Repair
* Teaching experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

* Must have a strong hands-on technical background in all aspects of diesel technology.
* Must possess the organizational and communications skills necessary to be an effective teacher.
* Must commit to remain current in the field of Diesel Technology.
* Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Must possess computer skills and ability to utilize technology to enhance teaching.

SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience according to Tennessee Board of Regent guidelines within the ranges of $54,075 - $64,890.
