Educational and Experience Requirement:

Bachelor's degree in business, management, finance, accounting, marketing or a related field. Three years of related work experience in higher education or financial services related field. Experience in an environment dealing with financial literacy education and financial counseling preferred. Experience developing and implementing programs, activities, promotions, or special events in higher education desired. Experience in written and oral presentation preferred. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.

Nature & Purpose of Position:

Develops and implements programs and other activities within the Student Money Management Center (SMMC) and collaborates with Sam Houston State University (SHSU) students and the University community.

Primary Responsibilities:

Collaborates with the Financial Aid & Scholarships Director to coordinate, maintain, and supervise Program Coordinators with priority given to Student Money Management Center (SMMC) peer counseling program. Oversees presentations, workshops and seminars on personal finance topics and personal finance counseling to SHSU students and University community. Interprets federal and state regulations regarding financial aid as well as other financial literacy legislation. Provides training to Program Coordinators, Personal Financial Coaches and Peer Coaches regarding regulations, legislation and personal financial counseling sessions with SHSU students. Assists the Financial Aid & Scholarships Director with developing and coordinating services, programs, policies and procedures, promotions and special events of the Student Money Management Center. Coordinates, trains, maintains, and supervises the Student Money Management Center's peer coach program. Works with the Financial Aid & Scholarships Director and provides training to Program Coordinators and Personal Financial Coaches and in the assessment of the center's educational efforts. Conducts and coordinates trainings, workshops, and meetings involving the Student Money Management Center. Provides oversight to develop and implement direct and indirect marketing strategies (including website, flyers, digital marketing and social media) for the Student Money Management Center's services. Assists in overseeing the center's online outreach and helps in selecting, coordinating, and scheduling educational outreach opportunities. Oversees collaboration, coordination and scheduling of educational outreach programs. Assists with hiring full-time employees, student employees and graduate assistants. May serve as department representative for internal and external meetings and presentations. Assists in developing training, policies, and procedures. May draft grant proposals for special funding. Implements, maintains and provides training for computer software such as Campus Connect and Titanium. Oversees the compliance and processes for the Student Loan Debt Letter. Manages assessments plans as a part of Anthology Planning for the University. Provides the most up to date information for the Student Financial Wellness Survey (Trellis Survey). Performs other related duties as assigned.

Other Specifications:

Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws. Ability to manage business functions. Communicates with other University departments, personnel, and other agencies. This position may be designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA).
