WHAT OUR DEPARTMENT DOES
Our Finance department supports the Foundation's mission by providing a full range of finance, budget and accounting services and support. We handle general ledger accounting, budget, investments, cash flow management, debt, audits, invoicing, internal controls and overall high level of finance and accounting procedures and processes. Having skilled financial leaders, technology-based systems and processes allows the department to excel at our finance work, which supports the SDSU research mission and overall strategic growth plans.
YOUR ROLE IN CREATING THE UNIVERSITY'S PRESENT AND FUTURE
As the Associate Director of Budget and Finance, you will serve as a liaison between the Financial Services Facilities Management, and Information Systems departments for a variety of senior staff accountant and systems implementation responsibilities in support of SDSU Research Foundation. Under general direction of the Director of Finance/Controller, you will perform project leadership in large and/or complex systems with broad impact. You will be responsible for interfacing with senior executives, auditors, other auxiliaries, university personnel and a variety of external agencies. You will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of one or more accounting staff.
Responsibilities
THE WORK YOU WILL DO AND MANAGE
As the Associate Director, Budget and Finance you will provide Leadership & Management of Financial Services. You will be responsible for supervision of the audit manager, budget coordinator, staff accountant, and accountant technician II. You will develop and implement departmental policies and programs, establish goals and monitor and evaluate progress towards department goals and objectives. Define duties and requirements for staff, establishing organizational needs. You will serve as primary liaison for Global Campus and KPBS finance and accounting issues and represent SDSURF to the public, other educational institutions and professional associations, auditors, taxing authorities, financial institutions, and other stakeholders.
You will handle budget analysis and reporting by reviewing all new leases and amendments, provide complex budget analyses, review the preparation of the annual and mid-year department budgets for facilities, finance and accounting, accounts payable, purchasing, payroll, audit and tax, and insurance and prepare the annual insurance allocations to all associated properties and projects.
You will manage Information Technology project management by partnering with information systems on technology initiatives that impact the organization, performing regular assessments and improvements to finance and facilities systems, developing and publishing custom reports and developing, monitoring, and executing "ad hoc" and ongoing requests for data to ensure that the reports are accurate meeting the business needs.
You will collaborate with CFO and Director of Facilities and Planning Management to analyze real estate decisions on potential future purchases, sales, and leasing opportunities. You will handle financial statements and tax returns by working closely with the Director of Financial Services/Controller and CFO. You will assist with the review of audit schedules, preparation of the financial statements and audit reports. You will ensure the accuracy and timeliness of monthly closes, general ledger posting and accounts receivable reporting and prepare audit schedules, and other items necessary for various periodic and annual audits and assist auditors as necessary.
