General Description of Position:
The Associate Construction Engineer will inspect OSP construction and verify the work is completed according to Hargray standards and specifications. Primary responsibilities include utilizing basic GIS-based field and drafting tools to perform field operations such as working with construction vendors and ensuring the quality of work on assigned projects. The ideal candidate for this role should show initiative and be motivated to grow and learn, as well as have the ability to work with high energy in a fast-paced work environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs inspections of the communications utility.
- Performs acceptance tests for fiber and CATV cables.
- Places material orders through the procurement system for all OSP work orders.
- Ensures that field notes are up-to-date, and projects are on schedule.
- Performs QC work in the field to ensure contractors meet Hargray construction standards.
- Perform the final inspection of work orders, redlines, and hands-off close-out documentation of the project to Sr. Construction Engineer.
- Gains understanding of project financials.
- Gains understanding of OSP best practices permits process, field construction methods, and telecom products.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the effective operation of the department.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of 1-year experience in Outside Plant Construction, Field Construction Management, Cable Maintenance, or Field Locates.
- Ability to communicate clearly in writing and explain work verbally to internal and external customers and colleagues.
- Ability to work independently and with a team of senior-level engineers to complete the assigned tasks.
- Have basic knowledge of outside plant construction.
- Have a basic understanding of telecom products offered and how to deliver these products to external customers.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, including Visio, Excel, and Word is required.
- Working knowledge of drafting software is preferred but not required.
- Working knowledge of 3GIS is preferred but not required.
