Description:

The Department of Systems Pharmacology and Translational Therapeutics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the tenure track. Postgraduate training in drug delivery, targeting, nanomedicine, as well as cerebrovascular pathology and animal models of stroke and other neurological conditions is required. An additional expertise in pharmacokinetics and targeting of drugs and drug delivery systems in animals, imaging of cerebral damage, and assembly of the nanocarriers for vascular targeting is highly desirable. In addition, the experience of preparing, submitting and receiving competitive research project  grants from the NIH, AHA and other funding agency is highly desirable. Applicants must have a Ph.D. and/or PharmD. degrees.  

Teaching responsibilities may include teaching students in the School of Medicine medical and/or graduate programs, giving lectures in the current PGG courses, running the Center for Targeted Therapeutics and Translational Nanomedicine (CT3N) monthly trainees WIP, and co-directing the "Drug Delivery" course CBE/PRHM 564. The membership and active participation in the Pharmacology Graduate Group is highly expected.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include directing a research laboratory in the stated scientific areas, performing high impact and national recognized scientific research. These efforts will include publishing and presenting research findings at national and international meetings, seeking and successfully obtaining external research funding (i.e. NIH grants) and training graduate students and post-doctoral fellows in the laboratory. This individual is expected to actively seek and engage in joint research projects involving multiple investigators at PENN, across the departments and schools and establish a vibrant, impactful, and independent research program. 

The individual is expected to exhibit a high degree of scholarship indicated by high impact publications and presentation of research findings at peer academic institutions as well as national and international scientific meetings. Qualified individuals will exhibit creativity in the application of cutting-edge techniques and approaches to advance their scientific progress.
