Earlham College is seeking an Assistant Professor of Exercise, Sport, and Health Studies (Tenure Track) to join our team.
Summary of position:
Earlham College invites applications for a tenure track, assistant professor position to provide leadership to the Exercise, Sports, & Health Studies program. The successful candidate will have program leadership experience and/or expertise in academic areas of exercise science, leadership & sports, or health & wellness. The faculty member will be expected to teach in the program and serve as convener (the equivalent of chair) under the mentorship of faculty in an allied department. We seek an individual who is excited about engaging students in the breadth of topics covered under the umbrella of exercise, sports, and health studies and to join the interdisciplinary team of faculty in natural and social science divisions at a small liberal arts college. This appointment will begin August 2024 or earlier.
Responsibilities:
Teaching responsibilities will include teaching a senior capstone course and may include courses such as Personal Health & Exercise; Functional Anatomy; Sports Leadership; or others, depending on the faculty member's expertise. Administrative duties include engaging in assessment and planning for the program, meeting with prospective students, and providing leadership for the program. The position includes an expectation to conduct research that will actively engage our undergraduate students. Additional duties include advising students and providing service to the college. Preference is given to candidates who are excellent and innovative teachers and have a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
