The School of Education and Human Development at the University of Virginia is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Professor of Education in the area of Educational Technology in the Department of Curriculum, Instruction and Special Education. This is a 9-month, salaried, non-tenure track general faculty position on the teaching track.

The successful candidate will have a clear demonstrated record of academic success of utilizing technology to improve teaching and learning in educational settings and engaging in innovative, technology-enhanced approaches to understand and improve educational experiences. The candidate will be expected to teach online asynchronous graduate courses in educational technology and instructional design, and advise graduate students. Duties also include curriculum mapping and updating courses, dissemination of program information, admissions, and collaborating with administrators to schedule courses and staff classes. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with colleagues, both within and outside the School of Education and Human Development, as well as with community partners.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • A doctorate in educational technology, instructional technology, or a related field prior to the start date of the position

  • Experience working in teacher education, K-12 classrooms, higher education, and/or professional learning contexts

  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

  • Record of successful advising and mentoring of graduate students

  • Record of effective teaching at the university level

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience working with culturally and/or linguistically diverse students

  • Experience with developing collaborations among community partners, researchers, and schools

  • Experience with online teaching
