Buena Vista University (BVU) invites applicants for a full-time remote position as Assistant Professor of Counseling in our Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) graduate program. The Assistant Professor of Counseling is a 12-month, tenure-track position with a 30-credit hour annual workload. The anticipated start date for the position is July 1, 2024.

Primary Responsibilities

• Teach graduate-level CMHC courses and develop course curriculum.
• Engage in faculty scholarly activity, including service and advocacy efforts.
• Serve on the program and university committees.
• Perform other university and departmental duties as assigned by the program director.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

• Earned Doctoral Degree in Counselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP Accredited Institution.
• Professional identity within the counseling profession through membership in professional organizations pertinent to counseling (e.g., ACA, ACES, and/or sub-divisions and/or state equivalents.)
• Commitment to the field of clinical counseling as evidenced by educational background, publications in peer-reviewed journals, community services, experience or professional affiliation, conference attendance, etc.
• Evidence of remote teaching experience is required with a strong preference for those that have taught CMHC courses.
• Independently licensed counselor in the state of residence.
• Commitment to inclusion, diversity, and/or social justice.
• Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills and collegiality.

Preferred Qualification:

• Two or more years of college/university-level teaching.
• Experience supervising, mentoring, and advising students.
• Member of Chi Sigma Iota (CSI)
