The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) welcomes applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in Computer Science with a focus on cybersecurity and related areas. Candidates with exceptional research portfolios may also be considered at a higher rank. Specific areas of interest include cybersecurity, cloud/edge computing, and blockchain, though all research areas in Computer Science and engineering will be considered. Appointments are expected to start in January 2023.

The EECS department at FAU has 45 faculty and a student body that includes over 1,000 undergraduate and 350 graduate students. EECS offers baccalaureate, masters, and doctoral degrees in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Electrical Engineering. The department also currently offers MS degrees in Artificial Intelligence, Bioengineering, and Information Technology and Management. The department's current active funding portfolio is over $15.0M, with support from federal funding agencies such as NSF, NIH, DoD, DoE, and DARPA, as well as Industry. The FAU College of Engineering and Computer Science is in the top three fastest progressing engineering colleges in the nation (US News and World Report Rankings 2020-2022) and is internationally recognized for cutting-edge research and education in the areas of computer science, artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics, computer engineering, electrical engineering, biomedical engineering and biorobotics, civil, environmental and geomatics engineering, mechanical engineering, and ocean engineering. Research conducted by the faculty and their teams exposes students to technology innovations that push the current state-of-the art of the disciplines. The College research efforts are supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Department of Defense (DOD), the Department of Transportation (DOT), the Department of Education (DOEd), the State of Florida, and industry. The College also utilizes additional institutional research resources through fellow appointments of its faculty in four University Institutes of research excellence/pillars, namely, the Institute for Sensing and Embedded Network Systems Engineering (I-SENSE), the Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute (HBOI), the Stiles-Nicholson Brain Institute (I-BRAIN), and the Institute for Human Health and Disease Intervention (I-HEALTH). The FAU College of Engineering and Computer Science offers degrees with a modern twist that bear specializations in areas of national priority such as AI, cybersecurity, internet-of-things, transportation and supply chain management, and data science. Minimum Qualifications:Applicants must have a doctorate degree in Computer Science or related field and are expected to demonstrate a strong research record commensurate to their rank.

Successful applicants are expected to develop and sustain an extramurally funded research program and show a strong commitment to excellence in teaching.
