West Virginia University Institute of Technology (WVU Tech), part of the WVU system of campuses located in Beckley, WV, is currently inviting applications and nominations for the following employment opportunity:
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering within the Leonard C. Nelson College of Engineering and Sciences seeks to hire a tenure track Assistant Professor in Computer Engineering. The department offers two-degree programs: BS degree in Electrical Engineering (EE) and BS degree in Computer Engineering (CpE). The position is 9-month, full-time, tenure-track, and benefits-eligible.
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Computer Engineering courses for baccalaureate programs. The sucessful candidate will also be expected to pursue scholarly/research activities and perform other service's associated with a faculty position. Commitment to teaching excellence, student-centered scholarly/research activities, responsiveness to student needs, and good communicaiton skills are essential.
The successful candidate must make a significant contribution in teaching required and elective undergraduate computer engineering courses and labs in areas including introductory and advanced digital design, microprocessor and embedded systems design, computer architecture, computer systems design, and software tools, and in developing new courses and laboratories for undergraduate instruction in terms of both hardware/software and lab exercises, and in supervising undergraduate research and/or development projects. In addition, the successful candidate must make an important contribution in scholarship/research activities, in seeking external funding, in engaging in sutdent-centered scholarly activities, in maintaining currency in the field, and in publishing the results of original work. Lastly, the successful candidate must make a reasonable contribution in providing service to benefit the profession, department, institution, community, and state and in advising and mentoring students with respect to their academic progressioni and career choices.
