Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Office Coordinator, the Assistant Office Coordinator will support much of the day-to-day inquiries and main office processes and procedures, which includes assisting other HRE staff members with projects, and direct management of the department's communication and marketing strategies. This is mainly a front-facing customer service position that will require consistent communication and follow-up with students, parents, and other members of the DU community.

The Assistant Office Coordinator provides departmental administrative support and responds to telephone, email and in-person inquiries, maintains calendars, manages record time keeping for professional staff, schedules appointments, meetings, and room reservations. This role handles complaints and resolves issues.

This is a non-benefited position not to exceed 1,000 hours in a calendar year.

Essential Functions

Office Administration

  • Provides administrative support for the department, which includes but is not limited to; responding to telephone, voicemail, email and in-person inquiries, managing calendars, scheduling appointments, meetings, and room reservations, resolving a variety of issues and handles complaints, maintaining a high level of communication with other departments, colleagues or external sources, while providing a high level of customer service.

Housing Administration & Event Planning

  • Reviews & edits departmental operational calendar and assists in updating the departmental website related to dates and housing processes.
  • Assists with facilitating housing events, including but not limited to, Admission Tours of residence halls, perspective overnight visits, staff gatherings, and HRE's participation in University events, such as, hiring fairs, Pioneer Days, and Parent Weekend.
  • Supports the departmental early arrival program alongside Office Coordinator
  • Manages and responds to inquiries to two main housing accounts, resolving a variety of inquiries and issues, handles complaints and assists in facilitating basic housing processes

Departmental Duties

  • Collaborates and develops working relationships with key campus partners, including but not limited to: Information Technology, Department of Campus Safety, Student Rights and Responsibilities, Office of the Vice Chancellor, Office of Student Engagement, Fraternity and Sorority Life, Parent and Family Programs, Health and Counseling Center, Living &Learning Communities, and other University related services.
  • Attend events and programs sponsored by the department and/or the Division of Student Affairs and Inclusive Excellence, including those that periodically occur on weekends and evenings
  • Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Experience providing high levels of customer service
  • Experience with office management and performing administrative tasks
  • Experience navigating difficult conversations in a professional setting
  • High level of organizational and communication skills
  • High level of emotional intelligence and ability to empathize with college-aged students and their families
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma with 1-2 years of experience in an administrative or customer service role
  • Demonstrated record of building collaborative partnerships with colleagues and key stakeholder groups
  • Administrative experience
  • Evening office hours and occasional weekend commitments are expected
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associates degree with 2-3 years of experience in administrative or project manager role
  • 1-2 years of experience working in university housing or student residential facility
Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Evening office hours and occasional weekend commitments are expected.

Hourly Range

The hourly range for the position is $16 - $18.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate's sex or any other protected status.
