Job Summary

As a part of the communications team within Chicago Booth's Office of Advancement, the Assistant Director, Content, Communications is responsible for creating, curating, procuring, and tailoring compelling, action/impact-focused content-from written word to images to video-to activate, motivate, and inspire the department's core audiences (alumni, donors, volunteers) to engage with and invest in Booth.

Important components of this position include: contributing to the annual Advancement Communications editorial calendar as well as various communications and marketing strategies by developing and curating content and supporting tactical needs; partnering with colleagues to strategically execute on Advancement's storytelling approach and ideation; and orchestrating efficient and thorough processes to facilitate marketing and communications projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develops content and strategizes on creative and interactive ways to engage with alumni, donors, and volunteers; particularly related to Advancement's websites, emails, social media, online communities and networks, Chicago Booth Magazine, and collateral.
  • Acts as the communications team's lead writer and editor.
  • Collaborates with colleagues on events and programs to determine communications approach. Develops content plans and executes tactically.
  • Serves as contact point person for many cyclical programs.
  • Collaborates with Booth Marketing and Communications as appropriate to optimize the effectiveness of collateral pieces for Advancement programs. Practices a standard of communication that is uniform and consistent with the school's branding and priorities.
  • Plans, develops and disseminates information designed to keep the public informed of the organization's programs, accomplishments, or point of view, with moderate levels of guidance and direction.
  • Continues to build higher level knowledge of the University, processes and customers.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:
Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Experience:
  • A minimum three years of experience in a related field.
  • Experience with communication mediums and methods.

Technical Skills or Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of the Chicago Manual of Style or similar style guide.

Working Conditions
  • This position is currently expected to work a minimum three days per week in the office.
  • Travel to campus and/or non-campus locations for University business.
  • Staff evening and weekend events on occasion.
